Prof. Junseok Seo

Professor Junseok Seo is a tenure-track faculty member at Hanbat National University, where he also serves as the Director of the Regional Cooperation Center. His research focuses on the collaborative roles of universities, research institutes, industries, and governments in fostering innovation within science and technology parks and startup ecosystems. He has extensively published in reputed domestic and international journals, contributing significantly to academic discourse in these fields.

A recognized expert in science park management and startup ecosystem development, Professor Seo has shared Korea’s innovation experience globally through key international projects. These include the Yachay Science City in Ecuador, the Nazarbayev University Science and Technology Park in Kazakhstan, and the Technopark initiative in Kuwait.

Before entering academia in 2021, he built a distinguished career with 12 years in corporate finance and venture investment, followed by 17 years at the Korea Innovation Foundation under the Ministry of Science and ICT. During this time, he served as Executive Director of Daedeok Innopolis and Junbuk Innopolis, two of Korea’s leading innovation hubs.

Even after transitioning to academia, Professor Seo continues to contribute actively to international consulting projects through Korea’s KDI Knowledge Sharing Program (KSP) and ODA initiatives. His recent advisory work includes science park and innovation ecosystem development in Egypt, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Peru.

In Korea, he serves as a policy advisor for technology commercialization and startup support to organizations such as Daejeon Technopark, DISTEP, and DCCEI.

Professor Seo holds an MBA from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Chungnam National University. He was also a Visiting Research Professor at the Jenkins MBA Program at North Carolina State University (NCSU) in the United States.

With a deep passion for travel, Professor Seo has visited 57 countries, enriching both his personal and professional life through global engagement.
