BIKASH NAKARMI received Ph.D. in Information and communication engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Daejeon, Rep. of Korea in 2012. He joined the College of Electronics and Information Engineering, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China, in 2016, where he is currently a full professor in the Key Laboratory of Radar Imaging and Microwave Photonics (Nanjing Univ. Aeronaut. Astronaut.), Ministry of Education. His research has focused on developing optical blocks used in optical communication and networks using Fabry-Pérot laser diode, bio-sensors based on nano-structures, microwave photonics which includes robust waveform generations, interference mitigations, target objects detections and identifications, and implementation AI for output performance enhancements of microwave radars used for autonomous vehicle, defense applications and the 5G/6G communication systems.
From 2012 to 2013, he worked as a Research and Development Manager in InLC technology Korea, Postdoctoral Researcher at Nanjing University (2012-2014), China. From 2014 to 2016, he was a Research Professor at KAIST. He is the founding member for several start up and companies in Korea and China which includes Axinux Korea, VP Tianlu-Flying Car, China, Green Vaahan Nepal, Samadhan Engineering, Nepal. Prof. Nakarmi has authored and co-authored over 150 research papers, including 60+ peer-reviewed IEEE and SCI journals, 75+ papers in conference proceedings. He holds 2 patents in non-invasive glucose sensing and has delivered 20+ international keynote and invited talks. His contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, including Best Researcher (2017) and Outstanding Teacher (2020) at NUAA. He was also featured as an International Outstanding Researcher in Jiangsu, China in Jiangsu News (2017 and 2018). Prof. Nakarmi is a senior member of the Optical Society of America and IEEE. Prof. Nakarmi had served as an Editor in Wiley and Frontiers Journals, committee member in SPIE photonics ASIA 2012, IEEE ICECIT 2021, and a reviewer of several peer-reviewed journals. He is also a Chair of IEEE Photonics Society Nanjing Section Chapter.
